Was an English pianist, keyboardist and songwriter, best known for his career with Pink Floyd.
He wrote significant parts of the music for classic albums such as Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, as well as for Pink Floyd’s final studio album The Division Bell.
Of course Syd Barrett was the original songwriter and singer that made the Floyd so unique and trailblazing. But in his absence, it was Richard who contributed the melodic and emotional highs in their music, in contrast to Waters’ bitterness and Gilmour’s more detached virtuosity. Some of his individual compositions like See Saw and Summer of 68 are my favorites, along with his unmatched contribution to Echos, their magnum opus. My favorite member of the band.
